Up, up, and away!
52 #26
Detective Comics #825
Fairly straight-forward, fairly corny (Alfred has a tummy ache, and his throwaway remark about it provides Batman with the solution to defeating Dr. Phosphorus? That’s dumb), and the art was like a poor man’s Adi Granov. I’m not impressed. Bring back Dini!
Justice League of America #3
We’ve been juggling several plot threads for a little too long for them to have not come together a little better by now. I’m getting a little lost, like “What’s that animal girl doing again?” and “Was Black Lightning doing anything related to the story before?” It’s a shame after the strong start, but it’s not a bad comic.
Street Fighter Legends: Sakura #3 (of 4)
No impressions could beat this excerpt: “Now everyone please rise in the presence of the honorable guest judge of Hot Dog Stadium… Chairman E. Honda!”
Superman Confidential #1
Now this is good. Non-comic reading fans of NBC’s Heroes take note, the guy doing the paintings on the show (the actual artist, not the actor playing the painter) is Tim Sale, and he does awesome comic books. I’m not familiar with the writer, Darwyn Cook, but he’s got me hooked already with some wonderful dialog. This makes, what, four excellent Superman titles right now? Weird. Awesome, but weird.
Uncanny X-Men #480
I don’t know what’s going on. To anyone not versed in the history of the Shi’Ar empire, this is pretty lame.
