Continuing!

Cable & Deadpool #33

When Simone was writing Deadpool/Agent-X, the supporting cast was fleshed out and interesting—at least enough to make a humor book work. Here we get more of the Cable & Deadpool confusing cast of nobodies. I understand I would recognize more of them if I’d been reading Deadpool all along (I believe I started on #64*), but that’s no excuse for bland writing. I don’t know if many of Simone’s characters were original or taken from other titles or Deadpool’s history, but it didn’t matter because they were all developed enough to be unique, recognizable, and at least half-way engaging even if all you ever read were her issues. I miss that.

Wolverine #47

Excellent finish. Good to know Wolverine still does what it is that he’s best at doing, that his overexposure hasn’t completely neutered him.

X-Men: Civil War #4 (of 4)

I enjoyed the finale! The dialog was sharp, and I actually chuckled aloud at one of Stark’s lines. I’m not sure I’m any closer to adding another X-book to my subscriptions, but this miniseries didn’t turn out to be quite as disappointing as I feared.

*I also wouldn’t have very high expectations for anything Deadpool related if I’d been reading all along, starting out on Simone’s run set the bar pretty high
